After years of battling multiple and complicated health issues, her body was too tired to fight any longer.
Colleen was born June 1st, 1926 in Ovid Co. to Conrad and Marie Bauer. She was the 12th of 13 children. She spent her formative years in Lexington, Nebraska. She worked on the family farm alongside her siblings in the fields and milking cows. She attended school in a one room country school for 8 years. After graduating from high school she moved to Vancouver Wa. where she worked at McLaughlin Heights Jr. High school as a typist. She later worked at Montgomery Wards also as a typist. She later moved to Denver Co. where sister Sally lived. Colleen worked at Texaco Oil Co. as a key punch operator with Sally.
In 1948 she moved to Nampa, Idaho where she met the love of her life, Frank Korn. They were married in July of that year. Their 1st son Frank Korn was born on May 31st, 1949. On June 9th 1953, their second son David Korn was born.
In 1957 she went to work for Armours meat packing plant as a meat cutter. She worked for 26 years, retiring in 1983 when the plant was sold. While working at Armours she was on the board for the Meat cutters Union Local 368. She was a member of CDA at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Nampa and belonged to Lady Elks. Colleen was very active in the Nampa Senior Center where she served as president. While there she organized the fundraisers for the center at the Rec. Center.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, all of her 12 siblings, and one granddaughter Crissy Schorzman- Hinschberger. She is survived by her son, Frank (Mary), son David (Barbara); grandchildren, Jennifer Korn, LeAnn Holland (Elijah), Jason Korn and 7 great-grandchildren.
