Colleen Ortiz Obituary Colleen Ortiz 71 of Nampa passed away after losing her battle with ALS on Wednesday February 22,2023.
Colleen was born November 10, 1951, to Joseph Reese and Elaine (Slonecker) Hendry in Nampa, Idaho. Colleen lived in Nampa most of her life except during her grade school years she lived in Melba and went to school there. She grew up with her two sisters Carla Baker and Cindy Milbourn. When living in Melba she always liked spending time at her Grandad and Grandmas Sloneckers farm. When spending time at the farm Colleen and her sister Carla would always get into all kinds of mischief. She graduated from Nampa High School.
After graduation she worked in the banking industry. Shortly after graduating from high school, she met and married Gabriel Dan Ortiz later they divorced. She had three children Cory Ortiz(deceased) Cody Ortiz and Holly (Ward) Howington. Colleen enjoyed the years her kids lived at home. She especially enjoyed cooking for them. She was a very good cook a lot of the recipes were old family recipes that she would make.
In Colleens later years she liked to do flower arrangements. Birthdays, Anniversaries or Holidays she would always come with flowers in her hands to brighten up everybodys day. She was always very thoughtful at holidays and remembering everybodys birthdays with a card or present. She also enjoyed collecting Coach purses and using them.
After Colleen was diagnosed with ALS her son Cody helped take care of her. She also had caregivers Jenny and Janie from A Tender Touch caregiving help take care of her. I cant say enough for Cody, Jenny and Janie for the loving care that they Colleen when she was battling ALS. Her sister Cindy would also help when she was needed.
Colleen is survived by son Cody Ortiz, daughter Holly (Chris) Howington, sister Cindy (Don) Milbourn, her three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Cory Ortiz, sister Carla Baker, niece Kandi Baker, parents Reese and Elaine Hendry and grandparents Wayne and Virginia Slonecker.
