Colonel Dibrell Stowell Obituary Colonel Dibrell C Stowell, United States Air Force (retired) died September 25, 2023, following a prolonged illness. He was born October 12, 1933, in Pampa, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with honors, while attending Texas Tech he was a world champion crop judge. Later on, he would earn his Masters Degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During his 27 years of service with the United States Air Force, he flew over 2,000 hours, and received numerous awards. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross during his tour in Vietnam. He was the commander of the Red Horse 819 Civil Engineer Squadron where he oversaw the rebuilding of the Air Force base located at RAF Wethersfield in the United Kingdom. Dib was the base civil engineer of the United States Air Force Academy where he retired in 1984. He was a Senior Project Manager for Morrison-Knudsen leading several global impacting projects on multiple continents. He was an Eagle Scout who was active in Boy Scouts his entire life. He was a proud Texas rancher who was President of Kirk Properties, Inc. for 18 years managing several farms and ranches. He loved skiing, the lapidary hobby and was an all-around outdoorsman, with a great knowledge and passion for nature. He found joy in gardening and rock hunting. He was preceded in death by his son, Monty Stowell. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Dana, as well as his daughter Sheryl and her husband Chuck Blish, his son Chuck and his wife Kate Stowell, four grandchildren: Mathew McIntyre Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy, Monty McIntyre - Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Brittany Blish Commercial Pilot, Charlotte Blish Midshipmen 2nd Class United States Naval Academy. He was grateful for his two great-grandchildren, Mathew and Rebecca. He was a long-time member of the 1st Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
