Connie Marie Prater 89, of Nampa Idaho passed away to be with the Lord on Friday March 23rd, 2012. Connie passed away in the surroundings of her family at Clearwater Assisted Living in Nampa. Connie was born June 18th, 1922 to Alfred, and Mary Roybal in Fort Collins, Colorado. The family later moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where Connie was raised by her Mother and stepfather Phillip Gonzales until she was married. Connie Married Gene Prater on December 8th, 1941 in Kimball, Nebraska. Connie and Gene were married 64 years until Genes passing in 2006. The couple moved to Nampa, Idaho where they continued to live throughout their lives, and together raised seven children, five boys and two girls. Connie had no greater love than that she had for her children. Her life revolved around them, and their happiness. While her children grew up Connie worked many different jobs until settling in at Carnation where she retired. Though Connie worked away from home her main job was always that of being a Mother. Her children grew older as did she yet she continued to be involved in their lives. She was the glue that held a very large, vocal, and strong family together. Connie was so proud of her children, and grandchildren. She was always present when one needed a voice of reason, a shoulder to lean on, and an honest word about a decision. How blessed was a family to have a woman of her kind for so many years. Connie never failed to have something to say even in the last days of her life when she called her family in one by one to instruct them of their duties after her departure from this earth. In those final days she never lost her lively spirit or witty sense of humor. Connie fought to hold onto the life she so loudly pronounced she was ready to let go of. Forever a family will be changed by the life, and death of a woman. We will forever be reminded of kindness, her love, and her memory. She is finally "Home." Connie is survived by her seven children. Hank (Kaye) Prater, Jack (Peggy) Prater, John (Alice) Prater, Mike (Kathy) Prater, Martha (Mike) Thompson, Sandra (Jon) Wakelam, Terry (Vicki) Prater, 51 Grandchildren, and Great grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her Father Alfred, Mother Mary, Stepfather Philip, her brother Bob, husband Gene, and great grandson Henry. The family would like to thank the staff at Clearwater house, Journeys Hospice, and numerous friends, and family for their support and prayers. The celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel
