IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Constance "Connie" Jean
Hachtel
January 26, 1951 – June 25, 2025
Our beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt Connie Hachtel was welcomed into the loving embrace of God in the quiet evening hours of June 25, 2025. She was by the side of her loving husband, Richard, of 54 years, who as her constant companion provided her with tender, loving care.
Connie was born in Nampa, Idaho to Paul and Donna Nolte on January 26, 1951. A third generation Idahoan, her family was a pillar of the Nampa community since her grandfather, Dr. Willis C. Nolte, came to Nampa in 1928 to practice medicine as a founding physician of the Samaritan Hospital. Connie graduated from Nampa High School in 1969. Her childhood was spent in the company of her sister Chris. One of Chris's fondest memories from their childhood was going with Connie, their mother, and Auntie Fern to downtown Boise to shop and to have lunch. Connie grew up at the piano with her beloved aunt, Fern Nolte Davidson, who was an accomplished concert pianist and piano instructor at the College of Idaho. When she was not at the piano or spending time with family and friends, Connie was reading. She read all types of genres. Some of her most treasured memories were of her time working at the Nampa Public Library after finishing high school. In the spring of 1969, she met the love of her life, Richard Hachtel, on a blind date arranged by one of her friends. While they came from very different backgrounds, their connection was instantaneous and their tender love for each other lasted 54 years. Richard's family operated a farm just outside of New Plymouth. He jokingly says she was first attracted to his 1967 midnight blue GTO. She says it was his blue eyes that first garnered her attention. As their love grew, they were married two years later in 1971 at the original downtown Nampa First United Methodist Church surrounded by family and friends.
Connie's love for her family was expressed through tender hugs, a listening ear, and above all else, her selfless deeds. She worked hard so Richard could finish his college education at Boise State University. During his decades long service at Home Federal Bank, she created a home for him, herself, and her two beloved children. Their first child, Richard Paul, was born in 1980. In 1984, her wish for a girl came true with the birth of their daughter Cayley Jean. Our family was blessed with the addition of Cayley's husband Tyler Allen in 2010 and Ricky's wife Elizabeth Lucas in 2016. Connie's greatest joy, her grandson Walker, was born in 2013 to Cayley and Tyler. She loved him with all her heart and never missed an opportunity to be with him for all the important moments of his life, whether big or small. As her mother, father, and Auntie Fern needed more care and support she made sure they had everything they needed for comfort and care. For one of her high school classes in 2002, Connie's daughter Cayley was asked to speak about the person who most influenced her life. Naturally, she spoke of our Mother. She closed her remarks saying, "And, it's been said that a girl's best friend is her mother. In my eyes a best friend is one who loves, supports, and sacrifices which would make you, mom, one of my best friends."
Scripture tells us love "always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres" (1 Corinthians 13:7). Connie's life is a testament to the very essence of love; a love in which we will abide for all our remaining days.
Connie is survived by her husband of 54 years Richard, her son, Ricky (Elizabeth); daughter, Cayley (Tyler) and grandson Walker; sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Dan Cronrath and nephew, Ryan (Andrea) Cronrath. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Donna Nolte. Her family wishes to express their utmost gratitude for the care of Bluebird Hospice and Angels Among Us Homecare. Their nurses and caregivers were some of the most compassionate individuals we met along her journey, and we will be forever grateful to them as they allowed her to remain in her home, a home she built for her family from a place of deep love. Mom and Grandma, we will always love you.
