On Monday, April 20, surrounded peacefully by her family and loved ones, Cruz Landa Lopez gained her wings after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Cruz was born on August 3, 1951, in Alamo, Texas, to Julio and Elisa Landa. She carried her Texas roots with pride throughout her life and was known for her strength, warmth, and deep love for her family.
Cruz is survived by her devoted husband, Pete Lopez; her children, Delia Jimenez, Delma Clark, Soledad Salinas, Raymond Lopez, and Paula Pina; her sister, Yolanda Castillo of McAllen, Texas; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Pete Lopez Jr., who passed away on February 17, 2022; her brother, Julio “Jr.” Landa; and many other dear relatives.
Cruz found happiness in the simple things—tending to her yard every summer, preparing meals, and hosting Sunday dinners surrounded by family. Her home was a place of comfort, love, and togetherness, and she took great pride in caring for those around her.
A viewing will be held at Nampa Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, at 5:00 PM.
Cruz will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 29.
Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
