David Finkbeiner Obituary David Finkbeiner 88, of Nampa/Meridian, passed away on December 24, 2024 in Nampa, Idaho. At his request there will be no service. David was born February 16,1936 in Tillamook, Oregon, the son of Arnold and Ella Finkbeiner. He moved to Nampa in 1942, where his father started the Art Department at NNC. David graduated from Nampa High School in 1955. He attended Denver University and graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Art Education. He then moved to New York City to pursue his interest in becoming an art teacher. This dream was accomplished by completing 30 years as a professor of Print Making at the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, NY. He took his skills as a Danforth Fellow to Ecuador for one year. During the Summer he traveled to Valdottavo, Italy and taught at the Luis Cammitzer Art Studio in Valdottavo. He enjoyed Italy and its art community so much he decided to renovate a place called Ronchi in 1983 and brought it back to life. In 1999, he moved to Ronchi permanently. Later, having consigned the first creation to the world, he bought another ruin in the same area, called La Fenice (the Phoenix) and made it the subject of a 2007 art series that depicted it before and after its restoration. Davids artwork can be found in over 15 prestigious museums around the world from the Smithsonian in Washington DC to the John Judkyn Memorial in Bath, England. In the1982 September issue of Money Magazine, featured Davids print titled Storm King II, as a work of art from an unknown artist to purchase now before they become famous. He did become famous because of over 500 paintings that he created in his two studios at his La Fenice villa in Valdottavo. David began to suffer from Alzheimers in 2020, and was finally brought back to Meridian, Idaho to live with his brother, Paul and wife Tess. David was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Junella Hagood and Sharon Larsen and two brothers, Arnie and Myron. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Tess Finkbeiner; a brother-in-law, Richard Hagood; a sister-in-law, Gwen Finkbeiner and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
