David Michael Rogers, 61, of Nampa, passed away after a courageous battle with Leukemia on September 28, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born May 5, 1953 to Norman Eugene and Martha Olevia Rogers in Chicago, Illinois. . He was the sixth of seven children.
His childhood and teen years were spent in his beloved Iowa City, Iowa. David graduated from Iowa City High School in 1971. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where he met the love of his life, Lani (Yolanda) Fox. They then married in the Manti, Utah temple for time and all eternity on June 5, 1976.
Dave was a hard worker and started his working life as a paper boy. During high school he would deliver food to the patients at University Hospital in Iowa City. When he was old enough, he started to learn the shoe business, where he worked in his family shop, Rogers Shoe Store and Repair Shop. Daves favorite scent was shoe leather! He worked for 29 years at Bountiful Rest Mattress Co. and most recently was employed by Scentsy.
Dave loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Family always came first and it was the source of his greatest joy.
Dave loved baseball! He played all throughout his life; pick-up games in a sandlot as a kid, in high school, and as an adult. He loved coaching his sons baseball teams. Dave also loved the athletic programs at Boise State University and the University of Iowa.
Dave was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings and enjoyed serving others. He was a faithful home teacher and he loved to attend the temple. Additionally, he had a thirst for knowledge and had a great appreciation for his country.
Dave was survived by his wife of 38 years, Lani, and their 4 children, Lara (Paul) Tampas, Steve (Emily) Rogers, Aimee (Ryan) Nielson, and Kirsten Rogers, as well as 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lynn Rogers, and his parents, Norman and Martha Rogers.

A viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 6, 2014 at Deer Flat Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A viewing will be held prior to the services in the relief society room from 10 to 10:45 AM. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
