David Shervik Obituary David Ingvald Shervik age 95 passed peacefully in his home into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 13, 2024. David was born October 5, 1929, in La Crescenta, California. He graduated from Glendale High School where he was a member of the track team and marching band playing his tuba in the New Years Day Rose Parade. In 1949 he met the love of his life Osa Waago on a small island off the coast of Norway while visiting family. They were married July 21,1951. David was deployed to Korea that same year where he served as a corporal in the US army. He was honorable discharged in 1953. They moved to Crescent City, California where they owned and operated a trailer park, and he worked in a local lumber mill. In 1960 the family moved to Nampa, Idaho where Davids career as a carpenter took off. He had learned his skills working with his father and uncle in California. As the owner of Shervik and Shervik Builders he built hundreds of beautiful homes in the Treasure Valley. This skill of building he passed on to his two sons who also became contractors. The family lived in many of the homes he built moving from place to place around Nampa and Caldwell. In addition to building David owned and managed multiple rental units in the area. David put his trust in Jesus from an early age and served Him faithfully throughout his life. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife and family well. He served at Nampa First Assembly of God in various ways including board member, Sunday School director, teacher and Royal Ranger Commander. He oversaw the construction of their new church building. He traveled to Mexico to help build a church and actively supported mission around the world including many orphanages and schools in India. He served on the Board of Directors for Nampa Christian Schools, and he was the General contractor for the building of their new elementary school. The school board recognized and honored him in 2020 for his many years of service. David and Osa returned several times to Norway and Sweden visiting many family members. He loved the outdoors. He spent time camping at Red Fish Lake, hiking, boating and hunting. His favorite hobby was fishing which he continued to enjoy until a month before his passing. Another pastime was playing dominoes and rummikub with his family and friends. David is proceeded in death by his parents Ingvald and Ruth Shervik, his wife of 66 years Osa Shervik and two half-sisters Britt and Breta Kjerstrom. He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law James and Kittie Shervik and Ray and Cindy Shervik all of Nampa, one daughter and son-in-law Linda and Glenn Welk of Anacortes, Washington: 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Nampa College Church, 504 E. Dewey Ave., Nampa. Private burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. A public viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
