Delbert Leonard Finch of Nampa passed away at home peacefully among family on August 24, 2011. Delbert was born April 27, 1932 in Nampa. He graduated from Nampa High School with the class of 1950. He married Maxine Alice Lee August 2, 1957 and remained happily married until his death. They made their home in Montpelier, Id. Where sons David and Stephen and daughters Sharon and Katherine were born. The family moved to Nampa in 1973 where he has since resided. Delbert was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad Company, Signal Dept for 41 years and worked construction and maintenance at assignments in several western states. He was drafted during the Korean Conflict and served two years active duty with the U.S Armys 303rd Signal Battalion and six years ready reserve. He is survived by his cherished wife Maxine of Nampa, son Stephen of Nampa, daughter Sharon and husband Dave Thomas of Nampa and daughter Katherine and husband Jerry Holden of Northeast, Md. He is also survived by his baby sister Margaret Barningham of Boise, grandsons Chris Lawrence, Steve (Neil) Finch, Charlie Finch, Noah Finch , Jesse Holden and granddaughters Emily Bernal, Sammi Holden and Hayley Holden. His great grandchildren include 5 great grandsons: Austin, Ethan, Isaiah (Zeke), Elijah and Jesse and 2 great granddaughters Ashlynn and Brooke. In death he joins his son Dave who died in 1989, his brother Dave, and sister Iris as well as his father and mother John Chester and Eula Lee Finch. Delbert was a devoted family man. He loved more than anything to travel and treated his family to many memorable vacations that took us all over the western united states. We loved him and will miss him with all our hearts. We will always remember him as a quiet, honest and gentle person whose kindness and generosity extended beyond description to all who knew him. Always putting others needs ahead of his own, he truly had a heart of gold. Friends and family may call at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel on Monday the 29th between 5 and 7 pm. In respect of his wishes a private family service will be held at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery. His final resting place will be beside his beloved son Dave whom he looked forward to joining in eternity. A celebration of life is planned for Wednesday the 31stfor friends and family at his home in Nampa between 3 and 7pm. Delberts favorite charitable organizations included The Salvation Army and The Idaho Food Bank and anyone wishing to make memorial donations in lieu of flowers are asked to contact them.
