IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Talamantes
Bernal
February 7, 1927 – November 26, 2025
Dolores Talamantes Bernal went to be with Jesus on November 26, 2025, at the age of 98. She passed away peacefully in her home in Nampa, Idaho. Dolores was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on February 7, 1927, to Dolores and Rosa Talamantes in a small home. She came from a large family of 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Her husband, Jack F. Bernal, was also from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and served in the Navy during World War II. Dolores married Jack during his leave from the U.S. Navy on June 7, 1945. Jack and Dolores in Southern California, where they started their family. Their four children, Rose Bernal McGrady, Mary Bernal Keeney, Helen Bernal Stelzner, and Joseph Bernal, all grew up and settled in California. When Helen and her family moved to Nampa, Idaho, Jack and Dolores decided to move there too, to be closer to the grandchildren. Dolores was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Buela, Buelita, and Beta. She had 12 grandchildren: Fr. Kevin McGrady, OSsT, Dan McGrady, Shannon Keeney, Kimberly Keeney Thomas, Christopher Stelzner, Kelly Stelzner Barnes, Melissa Stelzner, Nick Stelzner, Justin Bernal, Johnathon Bernal, Jordan Bernal, and Janette Marie Bernal. "Buelita" also had numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Dolores was employed at North American Aviation Commissary and later at St. Francis Medical Center Central Service before retiring and relocating to Nampa, Idaho, in 1990. Every place Dolores called home, she knew her family of origin was from Las Cruces, New Mexico. On a few trips, Jack and Dolores traveled to the Santuario de Chimayo in New Mexico to pray for her family. Dolores was known for her powerful prayers for her family and their friends whenever anyone asked. Her mission was to serve her Lord and her community/family by teaching neighborhood children and their parents to read and speak English. Her little blue house in Nampa was across the street from Lakeview Park, the local community park, where she spent her time with her great-grandchildren when they visited her. The love Dolores held for her children and grandchildren was a significant part of her life. She would always make time to care for or be with her grandchildren, as they were her pride and joy.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, as well as her daughters, Mary Keeney and Helen Stelzner. May they joyfully be together again in heavenly peace.
