Dona LoDean Crawford, 84, passed away peacefully September 2, 2016 at a Nampa Care Center. Dona was born at Caldwell, Idaho on May 2, 1932, she was the youngest daughter of Roy Alfred and Bernice (Owen) Hunt. Her family included her only sister Dorothy Ayleen Edwards. The family relocated to a warm climate where she was raised and educated in Pomona, California. She graduated from Pomona High School in 1950 and continued her education at Life Bible College in Los Angeles. She married Donald Ray Crawford on February 23, 1951 in Pomona. They briefly lived in Redding, California and lived in Pomona until making Nampa their home in 1976. Dona began her career in the travel industry in Claremont. She loved to travel and all who knew her couldn't wait to hear of her hilarious travel adventures. After moving to Nampa to join her daughters, she continued to work in the travel industry until she went to work in the Canyon County Commissioners office where she retired. In 1973 Dona and Don rafted down the Colorado River, thorough the Grand Canyon for 17 days with a group of adventurous friends from church. She enjoyed many trips traveling to Netherlands, Israel, Alaska, Europe and Holy Land. Her last hoorah was in March when she and a childhood friend enjoyed a Gaither Cruise to the Caribbean. Dona enjoyed yearly reunions with the old Pomona Gang at their favorite Italian restaurant, Vince's Spaghetti in Ontario and she spent countless hours trying to create the sauce recipe. She loved tacos and taquitos and would make them by the dozen for family dinners. Anyone who knew Dona, loved her. She was fun, witty and loyal. Her sense of humor and one liners made her a joy to be around, making her nicknames 'Doody', or 'Doodlebug' a perfect fit. Dona loved her family, friends and her faith in God was unshakeable. She enjoyed genealogy and learned of her eligibility to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved the 'story' of each new relative she located and add many new branches to her family tree. She was a 7 year member of the Ee-dah-how Chapter and held the office of chapter chaplain. She was instrumental in the formation of the Soroptimist, and Aglow International in the area and involved in Stonecroft, Christian Women's Club and several christian ministries. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and Sweet Adeline's. Her many hobbies were knitting, crocheting chemo caps for Love Inc., sewing, making cards, calendars, and jewelry. There wasn't a craft she didn't try and in anything that she put her hands she excelled. Dona is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Stephen) Kren and Darla (Bob) Nichols of Nampa; 5 grandchildren, Jodi (Joe) Huff, Steve (Kalah) Kren, Janell (Travis) Hodsdon, Ty (Carrie) Nichols, and T'Jay (Holly) Nichols. 11 Great grandchildren, Henry and Claire Huff, Jack, Halle and Sophie Kren, Roy and Conner Hodsdon, Ella Nichols, Remi, River and Katie Nichols; Nephews, Hugh Crawford and Tim Kuskey, nieces Donna (Dave) Lerner, Barbara Kieffer and cousins, Ardith Agenbroad and Carol Leis. A Celebration memorial service will be held at Christian Faith Center, 31 Midland Blvd., at 11:30 am on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
