Obituary

Donald F. Saens, 84, of Nampa, passed away at a Nampa hospital on Thursday, February 2, 2017. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at the Lakeview Bible Church, 1010 W. Greenhurst Rd. in Nampa with military honors by members of the Idaho Army National Guard. A private inurnment will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise at 3 PM on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. 442-8171. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com Donald F. Saens was born on September 8, 1932 in Monrovia, California. He married Esther Levasseur in 1954 in San Bernardino, CA where they made their home until 2000 when they moved to Nampa, Idaho. He and Esther have been married for 62 years. He was a cold war veteran having served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. He worked in Civil Service from 1952-1990 as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War and 13 and a half years with the SR-71 Blackbird Project from 1976-1990. After moving to Nampa he and Esther were volunteer tour guides at the Nampa Warhawk Museum. He was a member of the Lakeview Bible Church in Nampa. Donald is survived by his wife, Esther Saens, Nampa; his son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Shanon Saens, Nampa; his daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and David Brannum, Vancouver, WA.; his sister, Marlene Saens, Phoenix, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a number of friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Phillip Saens. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Lakeview Bible Church, 1010 W. Greenhurst Rd., Nampa, ID 83686 or the Warhawk Museum, 201 Municipal Way, Nampa, ID 83687.
