He attended Maple Grove Grade School and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1952. He served as a Recon Helicopter Mechanic in the US Army from 1953 - 1956, stationed at Fort MacArthur in California. He married Joy Ann Dudgeon on August 18, 1955. They had three children and were married for 60 years. After military service the couple moved back to Caldwell, Idaho and lived there until Don took a job in Oregon in 1960 and the family moved to Grants Pass. They returned to Idaho in 1966 when Don started working for the Idaho State Tax Commission. He was in the Tax Audit Division and then later in Unclaimed Property. Don was a humble man, liked by all who met him with his sense of fairness, engaging smile and wonderful sense of humor. He was a family man who enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, woodworking and Yotes basketball. Don was a member and leader of the First Congregational Church in Nampa for more than 30 years and then more recently the First United Presbyterian Church.
Dons wife, parents, one son, Mark Tuckness and sisters Mildred Rae and Dorothy Black preceded him in death.
