Obituary

Donna Lee Clancy was born to John and Mildred Giesler on November 20, 1932 in Ontario, Or. She graduated from Fruitland High School in 1950. She enrolled in nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Nampa, where she met Eugene Clancy. They were married on May 11, 1952. They had five children. She worked at Ed's Market in Nampa, M&W Market on Holly, She started her 50 year career in optical with Park Salle, OD as a receptionist. When Dr Salle sold his practice to Steven Oki, OD she became an optician, fitting eyeglasses and benchwork, edging lenses into eyewear frames. She also worked at Total Vision in Caldwell, Gem State Optical in Boise, Family Eyecare in Caldwell and Vision Quest Medical Center in Boise. She became a certified optician through the American Board of Opticianry. She belonged to the PTA for 18 years, serving as president. She was in charge of the Eastside School Carnival where she made awesome haunted houses. She belonged to the American Business Women's Association where she was elected President and also was their Woman of the Year. She also served as President of the Para Optometric Assistance Association. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Descendants of the Mayflower.Donna loved politics. She was elected Precinct Committeeman for district 13. She worked on Senator Frank Church's campaigns holding an afternoon tea in her home for the neighborhood to meet the senator. She also worked on Governor Cecil Andrus and Governor John Evans campaigns, She served as senior judge at the elections for more years than any of us could remember. She taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School at the First Christian Church in Nampa. She served as a board member and an Elder in the Church. She served as a board member of the Golden Glow Towers. Donna loved roses, Eugene planted her a garden of roses (400). She loved to paint, play the piano, dancing, traveling, reading, fishing, camping and playing pinochle with a group of ladies until the last month of her life. Most of all she loved being with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Clancy, mother and father, John and Mildred Giesler, her brothers Calvin and Glenn Giesler, sisters, Doris Pollentier and JoAnn Barry Pollentier.

She is survived by her children, Carolynn and Richard Vaughan, Clayton (Butch) and Sandy Clancy, Cindy Clancy, Marilyn and Frank O'Donnell and Charles (Chuck) and Debby Clancy. Nine grandchildren, Amy Vaughan, Lisa Vaughan, Sparky Clancy, Carissa Clancy, Cassie Clancy, Don Lakings, David Lakings, Keri Erickson and Casey Clancy. Sixteen great grandchildren and 2 great greatgrandchildren. Numerous step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She loved them all.
