IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Elaine
Paulsen
November 19, 1955 – August 27, 2025
On November 19, 1955, the Lord blessed the world with an angel named Doris Paulsen. To us, she was also our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Doris was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Eugene and Mary Mesenbrink, the oldest of four children. Life was not always easy, but she faced every challenge with quiet strength, unshakable faith, and a heart that loved without hesitation. That faith carried her through every season of her life.
On August 24, 1974, she married David Paulsen, and together they built their life in Wilder, Idaho. Farming was more than a livelihood for them—it was a way of life. Alongside raising their children, they taught by example the values of hard work, loyalty, and integrity.
Beyond her role as a devoted wife and mother, Doris gave of herself to her community. While working with the Wilder School District during the 1980s and 90s, she quietly helped countless students stay involved in school and athletics. Few ever knew of her contributions, because Doris never sought recognition—she simply made sure others had what they needed.
Doris carried light wherever she went. Not with fanfare, but with the steady warmth that made people feel seen, welcomed, and loved. Loving others wholeheartedly was her ministry, and she lived it every day.
In December 2023, Doris was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She faced her illness with the same courage, grace, and selflessness that defined her life. Even as treatments failed, she never asked for pity, choosing instead to continue encouraging and loving those around her. Her caregivers often remarked that they had never met anyone like her—and likely never would again.
During her final months, Doris sought peace and made sure her family and friends knew the depth of her love. On August 27, 2025, surrounded by love, she entered into eternal rest. She was accompanied by her dearest friend of 50 years, Mary, and held by her daughter Sarah as she passed. True to her nature, Doris slipped away gently, without wanting to be fussed over, just as she had lived her life.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her father Eugene, her brother Jeff, her nephew Jonathan, and her niece Mary. She leaves behind her mother Mary, brothers Karl and Tim, her children AJ, Sarah, and Brad, her grandchildren, her great-grandson, and countless friends and loved ones who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Doris' legacy is one of love, strength, and quiet grace. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit continues in the way we treat one another, in the way we stand by our families, and in the way we choose to love. Her presence will be felt for generations to come.
