Doris Lillian Prow, 93, passed away on Thursday October 17, 2013 with her family at her side. Pastor Chris Hinderlighter will conduct graveside services at 10:00 A.M. on Friday October 25, 2013 at the Melba Cemetery. Dinner will follow at the Melba Senior Center. Doris was born January 7, 1920 in Meridian, Idaho to Edward and Pearl Ellis. She was the youngest of 4 children. Doris attended school in Meridian.
Doris married the love of her life, Claude Alme Prow, on June 20, 1936. They celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage together. Claude and Doris had 3 sons, Mick, Ron and Dave. Doris and Pappa also opened their home to many children over the years.
Claude and Doris farmed for many years in the Deerflat and Melba communities.
They were active in the Do-ce-do Square Dance Club and the Circle Eight 4-H club. Doris held the office of treasurer at the Walters Butte Grange for many years. She also volunteered at the Melba Senior Center and was active in the seniors exercise class. She loved to ride the senior van with her friends to town every week.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claude, son Mick, her great-grandson Tucker, her sister Ruth Geim, and her brothers Harry and Hank Ellis.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Connie), Bruneau and Dave (Teresa), Melba, She also leaves behind 9 grandkids, 31 great-grandkids, and14 great great-grandkids and loving memories at family gatherings that included vanilla cream pies, pinochle and lots of laughter.
Doris appreciated the mobility that the Melba senior van provided her. This service allowed her to be independent for a long time. The family would like to suggest that in lieu of flowers, your thoughtful contributions can be made to help continue the van service for other seniors.
