February 24 2026 Douglas Paul Lessa peacefully took God’s hand in heaven in Boise Idaho at 78 years old.
Doug was born in Hayward, California, to George Lessa Sr. and Della Proctor. Loving husband to Lynn Lessa, devoted father to Douglas Jr. and Todd and dedicated grandfather to Tyler and Cody. Doug is also survived by his brothers George Lessa Jr., John Proctor, Jay Lessa, Al Lessa sister Jeana Lessa, as well as Aunt Dorothy Wylie and Cousin Dennis Duarte as well as many nieces and nephews.
In 1964 Doug was drafted into the U.S. Army where he would serve nearly 3 years. Initially stationed at Fort Benning Georgia, Doug was sent to Vietnam in 1965. After bravely and proudly serving his country and returning home Doug had a passion and natural skill for carpentry, where he would go on to running his own contracting business for nearly 30 years.
Doug also had a passion for coaching where he played a very pivotal role in the lives of so many people as a baseball coach, a soccer coach as well as a coach for kids with disabilities. Doug was also a very steadfast supporter to our U.S. Veterans where he made endless emotional and personal bonds serving our fallen heroes in military escorts with The Patriot Guard Riders as well as The Warriors’ Watch Riders.
A celebration of life with full military honors will be held at Sunflower Lane in Nampa Idaho on March 4th at 11:00AM.
