Dr. George Gorton Obituary Dr. George R. Gorton, Sr, 87, of Boise, ID and formerly of New London, Connecticut, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He was born on March 24, 1935, in New London, Connecticut to Ralph and Angeline (Cusano) Gorton. On January 9, 1954, he married Donna Mae Karpovas. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2015. He graduated from Connecticut College with a BS, the University of Utah with a MSW and PhD. He was a practicing psychologist. He enjoyed water skiing, fishing, crabbing and music. In his younger days, he played drums in a jazz quartet in a number of clubs in Connecticut and Rhode Island. He even sat in with Lionel Hamptons jazz group. He was a member of Quaker Hill Baptist Church in Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen Anson, and brothers Ralph Gorton, Jr and Robert Gorton. George is survived by his daughters, Denise Patterson and Deborah Hobson, and his son George R. Gorton, Jr as well as 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
