Duane Edward Tarter, 88 of Meridian died Monday, August 6, 2012 in Meridian. He was born in Portland, OR on September 1, 1923 to Dreyfus and Lydia Tarter. At the age of one he moved with his family to Nampa where he was raised and educated, graduating from Nampa High School in 1941. He joined the United States Navy where he served in the medical field for three and a half years. After special schooling he became a jeweler, watch maker, diamond judge, and piano player. He spent Forty six years as a jeweler.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his older brother Norman, a brother Glenn and a baby sister. He is survived by his son Vincent of Los Angeles, brother Orville and Thelma, brother Raymond and Mirna, brother Stanley and Marva and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday August 10, 2012 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A private family burial will be held in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery.
