Eileen Mary (Johannes) Dell, 96, of Nampa, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at her daughters home in Nampa. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 404 Nectarine St. in Nampa. A private burial will be later in the day at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. The family will greet loved ones and friends for a time of visitation on Monday evening, Oct. 3, 2016 from 7 - 8 pm at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. Nampa 442-8171. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com Eileen was born July 5, 1920, the first born to Milton and Mary Johannes of Underwood, ND. Eileen grew up on her parents farm and attended a one-room school house, where she graduated from high school in 1938. Following graduation she spent time in Seattle, WA and then San Diego, CA where she met her first husband. Following a brief marriage she moved back to Underwood, ND as a single mother, working as a beautician until marrying her second husband of 24 years, Edward Dell. Two children were born to Ed and Eileen in Underwood, and then in 1959 they moved to Nampa, ID where their third child was born. In addition to being a farmers wife and raising four children, Eileen cooked for the Idaho State School and later Northwest Nazarene College, retiring after 21 years with Saga Food Service. Even in the midst of a sometimes difficult life, she always maintained her bubbly outlook and loved people; especially her grand children. Hospitality was extended to all, and she would bring residents from the State School and students from NNU over for a home cooked meal and in later years hosted other single women from church nearly every Sunday afternoon for pinochle. When Eileen was no longer able to stay in her own home she found purpose and joy in meeting and welcoming other residents at the different care facilities she has lived in the last 5 years. She was often referred to as "giggles" and ended up landing herself a beau at the age of 95 because of her fun personality. She was loved by many residents and staff and always appreciated them. In her final days Eileen expressed how blessed she felt that so many people in her life loved and cared for her. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers and survived by 1 sister and 3 brothers, son Monty (wife LaDonna) of Sioux Falls SD, son Malcolm (wife Sandy) of Orofino, Idaho, daughter Mary of Nampa and daughter Maureen (husband Dean) also of Nampa, 13 grandkids, 23 great-grandkids and 2 great great-grandkids. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Streamside, Spring Creek, Midland and Treasure Valley Hospice for their friendship and care during her stay.
