Eldon Rozelle Snyder

Eldon Snyder went to meet Jesus, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the age of 91.
Eldon was born in Nampa June 18, 1924 to Myrtle and Paul Snyder. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1943 where he was active in music. He attended Northwest Nazarene College from 1945 1947. He continued his education by going to summer school and taking night classes and received his BA degree from the College of Idaho in 1960.
Eldon married Nellie Harryman, May 23, 1946, at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa and they have made their home in Nampa since that time.
Eldons first teaching position was at rural Lakeview School in grades five through eight in one room. He taught sixth grade from 1954 to 1958 at East Side School in Nampa. He taught Nampa Elementary Band from 1958 to 1974. He then worked in the School District Media and Resource Program. He taught sixth grade classroom music at Central until his retirement in 1986. Eldon worked as a patrolman and area manager for the Boise National Forest, Lowman Ranger District for 18 summers.
He was a lifetime member of First Church of the Nazarene. He attended Lowman Community Church in the summer. He sang in the First Church Choir for 60 years, and in several quartets. As a college student, he represented NNC in the first quartet to travel after World War II. He sang in Nampa Community Chorus, Barbershoppers, the Nampa Senior Chorus, which he directed and Grace Notes Senior Choir from College Church of the Nazarene. He sang and had parts in several performances for the Musettes. He held a comedy role in the play "Of Bloogles and Jewels". He sang for Century Club, Exchange Club, Good Sam Club, Dr. Bills Medicine Show, many weddings, funerals, anniversary celebrations, school functions, retirement homes and nursing homes. He and Nellie put on programs for churches in Kellogg, Lowman, Jackpot, Nevada and for 55 and Better and the Kings Travelers Good Sam Club.
Eldon enjoyed playing games, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, daughter and son-in-law, ElDonna Lowry (Dwain) of Osburn, Idaho; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Snyder of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Greg Lowry (Heather) of Olympia, Washington and Dane Lowry (Bridgette) of Coeur dAlene, Idaho, Brianna Sowinski (Caz) of Portland, Oregon, and Emily Gothard (Travis) of Aloha, Oregon; and one sister, Donna Jean Cameron of Walla Walla, Washington. He is also survived by a great grandson, David Lowry, and two great granddaughters, Anna and Alizabeth Lowry and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 at First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Avenue South, Nampa, Idaho, 466-3549. Pastor Ken Bergstrom, Pastor Don Renschler, and Jeb Bunn will officiate. Private family burial will precede the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel, Nampa.
