Obituary

Esther Brown Obituary On July 21, 2024, Esther Omera Brown, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 90. Omera was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 18, 1934. The family lived in Searchlight, Nevada until she was 3 then moved to Bunkerville until she was 9 years old before moving with her family to Bowmont, Idaho. She attended school in Bowmont and then in Melba where she met the love of her life Jay Dean Brown. They were married in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple on December 18 1951. Family was important to Omera and she and Jay raised 5 children. As they married and moved on she enjoyed having her grandchildren and then her great grandchildren come to visit. She also loved it when the grandkids or great grandkids showed up and asked for a popsicle which she kept on hand just in case. Having her grandchildren and great grandchildren make cookies in her kitchen was a highlight of her day. Omera loved her animals, especially horses. As a youth Omera deeply enjoyed riding her horse in the desert surrounding her home in Bowmont. Riding from pump road in the West to Robinson Rd in the East. She loved to watch her children and grandchildren riding the horses as well. Her fur babies, banty hens, cats, and dogs, held a tender place in her heart. One of her favorite things to do was going out to lunch with her daughter at chuck-a-rama or chick-fil-a. She found enjoyment in the outdoors and was often found working in her flower garden. She had an extensive personal library and absolutely loved reading. Omera enjoyed music, especially Lawrence Welk and the Grand Ol Oprey and they could be found playing in her home frequently. She encouraged her boys to sing and often created opportunities for them to do so. Many in the community remember seeing her at a variety of sporting events as she was always in the bleachers encouraging her children to participate. She was a faithful, stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was faithful and diligent in reading from the scriptures every morning and willingly served in a variety of callings within the Melba ward. Omera is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jay Dean Brown, Melba; her five children, Kerry (Barbara), Darwin (Diane), Jimmy (Cindy), Chad (ChihMei), and Jolene (Tom) and Brothers Ron Lofthouse (Valdi), Kent Lofthouse, 19 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren.
