Obituary

Esther Ramona Cerda Romero, 83, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends who loved and cared for her.

Known lovingly as Esther, she was born on August 30, 1942, in San Luis Potosí, S.L.P., Mexico, to Dionicio Cerda and Leonor Reyes Cerda. Growing up in a large household, she and her siblings shared a close and lively childhood. Though life took each of them on different paths as adults, those early bonds remained an important part of her story.

Esther married the love of her life, Joe Raymond Romero, and the two shared many wonderful years together until his passing in 2017. Their marriage was marked by deep affection, unwavering support, and a partnership that brought both joy and strength.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Esther spent many years working in the mills in Burns, Oregon, before returning to Nampa. For more than a decade, she proudly served the Nampa School District, where she was known for her reliability, compassion, and gentle presence.

Esther's life was full of simple joys and quiet passions. She loved crocheting shawls, gardening, and tending to her vibrant flowers. She delighted in nurturing the squirrels and birds that became regular guests in her garden. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, visiting thrift stores in search of unique treasures, and spending time chatting with neighbors. Esther had a very gentle soul and sought to befriend anyone she encountered.

She is survived by her siblings: Silvia (Roland) Cerda-Ibarra; and Angelica (Ray) Romero, Rosa Hunter, and Rogelio (Leticia) Cerda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dionicio and Leonor Cerda, her beloved husband, Joe Raymond Romero, several siblings: Susana (Elias) Torres; Manuel (Olga) Cerda; Gregorio (Oralia) Cerda; Ruben Cerda; Maria (Rosalio) Gutierrez. Though many family members preceded her in death, Esther remained a source of warmth, kindness, and joy. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generosity, and the way she brought light to everyone around her. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
