Not wanting to miss the birthday party for her Lord and Savior, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, went to celebrate in heaven with Jesus on December 25, 2014.
Evelyn Grace Farrand, was born on June 20, 1919 in Dickinson, ND to Walter and Grace Farrand the second of 6 children - 3 boys and 3 girls. Sadly, her 2 sisters died in childhood as a result of smallpox. When Evelyn was 8 years old she asked Jesus into her heart and her desire throughout her long life was to live in a way that was pleasing to her Lord. She set a great example for her family and taught them the importance of making the same decision that she had made in her early life. Her legacy has laid the foundation that will continue for generations to come. graduating from Dickinson High School in 1938, she was privileged to attend Northwest Nazarene College for one year (1938-39). She then moved to Seattle - a place she had always been told was so wonderful! There, she found work and was settling in when a friend determined she would be the perfect wife for a certain handsome man in Eastern Washington. On December 17, 1941 that young man, Ervin Loeber, made the long trip from Connell, Washington to Seattle to see this beautiful young lady and on December 18, he told her he wanted her for his Christmas present. They were married in Connell at the Loeber homestead on December 28, 1941. Being a farmers wife was a new and not always easy experience for Evelyn, but with the Lords help, they managed to make a happy home for their 4 children.
She was very active in the Connell Nazarene Church, teaching Sunday School - both children and adult classes. She also taught VBS in the summer and served many years as the church treasurer. In the late 50s she was elected as the Nazarene district missionary treasurer, a position she held for 19 years. Her love of and expertise in music followed her throughout her life. Directing the church choir at Connell for many years brought her tremendous enjoyment and fulfillment. In recent years, she called the Deer Flat Church her church home and hated to miss a single Sunday.
Evelyn loved working with her hands and produced many outstanding projects including sewing, knitting (both hand and machine) needlework, hardanger, ceramics, oil painting and even cake decorating.
In 2002, after 61 years of marriage, Ervin passed away and Evelyn moved to Caldwell to be close to her daughter. She became involved in the Grace Notes College Church Senior choir and truly enjoyed sharing Jesus love and forgiveness to others through song.
In the spring of 2010 she was again matched with another godly gentleman, Joe Wing. Their courtship was almost as fast as her first one and they were married on June 26, 2010. Every month on the 26th they would celebrate their monthaversary. They loved traveling around the northwest and would often take a day trip to McCall just to be out and enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately, 3 months after their marriage, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She underwent radiation treatment which held the cancer in check for 4 years.4 years lived to the fullest!
Evelyn leaves behind to love her forever her husband, Joe; son Larry and his wife Kathy and their children Lincoln and Krystal; son Ron and his wife Kathy Joy and their children Cody, Emalee, Kaylee and Levi; daughter Carol and her husband Dr. Mike Benedick and their children Tim and his wife Pam, Dr. Dan and his wife Kristina, Steve and his wife Rachel and Mark and his wife Rachel Suzi; son Bob and his wife Shari and their sons Andy and his wife Jordy and Luke and his wife Brittany; brother Don and his wife Dorothy and many numerous nieces and nephews.
