Evelyn Tarter Obituary Ontario businesswoman and successful entrepreneur M. Evelyn Tarter passed away peacefully to join her Heavenly Father on December 23, 2024, at the age of 88.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her two sons, Tim A. Tarter, Eagle, ID and Phoenix, AZ and Dan A. Tarter, Enid, OK; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Evelyn Niehoff was born on February 10, 1936, in Lamar, MO to August Herman Niehoff and Ruth Evelyn Lasley (nee Kinney). After her parents' divorce, Evelyn and her mother moved to Nampa, ID. While attending Nampa High School she met Raymond (Ray) L. Tarter and her life-long friend, Patty Tiegs (nee Webb).
After graduating from Nampa High School in 1954, Evelyn and Ray married and eventually moved to Ontario, OR where Evelyn purchased a small fabrics store next to Ray's motorcycle dealership. Evelyn and Ray later built a new fabrics and bridal store in Ontario, and Evelyn's Bridal became a fixture in the Treasure Valley for many years, with additional locations later opened in Boise.
After her divorce from Ray, in 2000 Evelyn married Joseph (Joe) Chupik and they lived in Meridian, ID until Joe's passing in 2014. Later, Evelyn sold her Meridian home and lived with Dan in Nampa and later Enid, OK, until her passing. The family would like to thank Elara Hospice and Baptist Village Assisted Living for their kind and loving care during Mom's last days.
