Flora was born on January 16, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio. She moved with her family as a child to Los Angeles, California. Flora graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949 and married Ralph Lewis Shaver in 1950. Always having a passion for helping others, she found her calling in nursing at a young age and graduated from East Los Angeles College, Vocational Nursing School in September 1953. She was active throughout most of her life in the Order Of Eastern Star; a Majority Member of Bethel No. 103 of California, International Order of Jobs Daughters; a recipient of the Grand Cross Of Color and was a Mother Advisor in the International Order Of The Rainbow for Girls in Southern California.
After her divorce, she found love again and married Robert Fulton. The two then relocated to Sonora where they set up and ran "Buckhorn Bait Farm". Flora also worked at Sonora Community Hospital in the ICU and the Birth Center Nursery until retirement in 1997.
Flora was active in Standard Church and then Creekside Community Church, where she enjoyed playing the organ and providing flower arrangements for church services and many weddings. She also created and was active in Sierra Singles Club in Sonora. Those who knew her, also knew her love of "General Hospital" and "One Life To Live", rarely missing an episode.
After retirement, Flora returned to Southern California to be closer to friends and family. As her mobility decreased she moved to Nampa, Idaho in 2010 to be with her daughter, Diana Alvarez who lovingly provided her care until her passing.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Alvarez and Carol Williams; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Dansie; her dog Lily and countless others whose lives have been touched and were enriched by knowing her.
