George "Porge" Walter Jurgens George W. Jurgens, 83, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at his home. George was born March 12, 1929 at Moorefield, Nebraska, to George and Emma (Waltemath) Jurgens. George graduated from UNSA in 1946. He served in the US Navy and he was an active member of the American Legion for 50 years. He married Betty A. LaBounty in Montebello, California on June 6, 1952. He and Betty raised their three children in Compton and Lakewood, California. George retired from Hughes Brothers Aircraft in April of 1979 and returned to live in Curtis, Nebraska the following month. George started a second career as head custodian at Maywood School and retired a second time in 1993 after 14 years working around all the children he loved. George was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening, camping with family and friends and wintering in Alamo, Texas. George is survived by his loving wife Betty of 60 years; son Jerry (Janice) Jurgens of North Platte, Nebraska; daughter Janice (Roger) Cutright of Buckley, Washington; daughter Judith (Kris) Norbryhn of Nampa, Idaho; brother Glenn Jurgens of Curtis Nebraska; sister Frances (Jurgens) Greenwood of Wellfleet, Nebraska; and sister-in-law Shirley Jurgens of Lakeport, California; 10 grand children; 10 great-grand children and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. George was preceded in death by his brother Chris Jurgens, brother-in-law Marvin Greenwood, sister-in-law Beverly Jurgens and a great-granddaughter Lila Norbryhn. Services will be held on February 20, 2013 at Nampa Funeral Home Yraguren Chapel at 11:00 am. The family wishes to thank Family Home Health and Hospice for their loving care during these last few months.
