Obituary

George S. Scott, 93, of Nampa, Idaho passed away on July 25, 2016. He was the oldest child born on August 13, 1922 to Harry and Mae Hodgen Scott. Following graduation from high school George joined the Air Force, where he became a pilot, radar-navigator-bombardier. He served in WWII, The Cold War, Korean War and in Vietnam. George earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and retired after 30 years of service. George loved to tell stories about his life in the military. He had a great love of fishing and hunting. He enjoyed traveling back to Illinois to visit his siblings and a good day of squirrel hunting while there. In his later years George spent hours cracking black walnuts. He loved to share these with family, friends and even strangers. George was always a gentleman and shared all he had with others. He loved his family and friends very much. George, we salute you for being a man of honor, courage and integrity. He is survived by his wife, Janet; Brothers, Jack (Joyce) of Sims, Illinois and Tom of South Elgin, Illinois; A sister Ruby (John) Reidle of West Dundee, Illinois; His children, David (Tony) of Sequim, Washington and daughter, Katherine (Bob) Paynter of Bremerton, Washington; Stepsons, Lonnie (Adele) Tiegs of Durbin, South Africa, Leland (Risa) Tiegs of Caldwell, Idaho and Michael (Michelle) Tiegs of Eagle, Idaho; A stepdaughter, Diana (Jose) Tiegs of Madrid, Spain. George is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and the mother of his two children, Marie. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Lorraine; his parents; a sister, Bernice; brothers, Ted and Glenn. A granddaughter and great-granddaughter also preceded him. Funeral services to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel. Burial, with full military honors will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
