Gregory Randall Moss, of Nampa, passed away at home on July 1, 2016 with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Greg was born in Ontario, Oregon on July 9, 1952 to Dick and Lillian Moss. Growing up in Weiser Greg excelled in sports and after high school was drafted to the military and joined the Marines Corps where he was stationed in Hawaii for four years. In 1974 he married Claudia Lee and was later divorced. Three children were born from the marriage; Courtney, Brandon and Matthew.
After his time serving in the military Greg started working for the phone company, Mountain Bell and would ultimately spend 40 years working in the industry retiring from Century Link in 2014. In 1994 he met and would later marry his current wife, Cindy Vargas.
Greg enjoyed watching his kids grow up playing sports and in recent years has been a proud grandfather loving every minute he was able to spend with his 11 grandchildren. After retiring he was able to pursue his passion of farming and raising cattle. Greg was a hardworking, honest man with a wonderful sense of humor that made him a pleasure to be around. He was always willing to help out and always led by example. The impact he had on those who were lucky enough to meet him cannot be overstated.
Greg is survived by his wife Cindy Moss; his daughter, Courtney Newton (Shane AKA baby newton); his two sons, Brandon Moss and Matthew Moss (Kaili); step daughters, Jennifer Patchett (Ben), Katie Vargas, Linsi Vargas , Heidi Vargas; father Dick Moss; brother Richard Moss; sister Cheryl Moss; and his Aunt Shirley Moss.
Greg is also survived by 11 grandchildren Gracie Jones-Moss, Cash, Cruze and Eiseley Newton, Owen, MaKena and Mason Moss, Daniel, Brooklyn, Jake and Josh Patchett.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lillian Moss.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at Stewarts Bar & Grill in Caldwell at 1:00 pm. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to cancer research or a charity of choice.
