Nampa, Idaho lost one of its long-time contributors when Harold Eugene “Hal” Weber passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025. He was 91. He will be missed by family, friends, College Church of the Nazarene, Northwest Nazarene University, and his dog Annie. He was a gentleman’s gentleman, trustworthy and kind to the bone.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Nampa College Church, 504 E. Dewey Ave. with military honors by personnel from the US Navy. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. There will be a viewing and visitation on Thursday evening, Jan. 8, 2026, from 6 – 8 PM.
Hal grew up in Walla Walla, Washington, graduated from Northwest Nazarene University, became a Navy officer, and married Ruth Croft in Palo Alto, CA. After several years working in corporate marketing, he found his heart was in teaching. He moved his family to Nampa and taught business at NNU, then served as vice-president of Financial Affairs. Hal pioneered many projects, the most visible being the rerouting of Nampa streets around the college.
After he retired, he was invited to be Vice Chancellor at Africa Nazarene University where he and Ruthie enjoyed a year of contribution and adventure and developed a lasting love for Africa and its people. Hal also served on the board of College Church in Nampa, and volunteered as the bookkeeper for Hands of Hope, an organization that collects and sends medical equipment to Africa.
In 2022, Hal suffered the sudden loss of his wife Ruthie. Friends, children and grandchildren surrounded him, and they faced this loss together. As he aged, Hal managed the loss of both his hearing and his vision, but if you called to ask him how he was doing, his answer was always, “Hey, I’m great!” He loved listening to books on tape, and in this way, sometimes “read” several books a week. When Hal needed a care giver, he invited his son Thomas Weber to fill that role. His daughter Lori Bolen and her husband Kelly took over on weekends. Lori and Kelly also took great care to include Hal in their many travels. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting the St. Louis Cardinal’s stadium where he had the good fortune to accidentally meet and shake hands with the starting pitcher of the next game, Kyle Gibson.
Hal suffered another great loss when his beloved daughter Sallie Weber died unexpectedly while recovering from a broken femur. She had just turned 62. Again, his children and grandchildren engulfed him in love and support. As always, Hal handled this hardship with the same grace that characterized his life. It is fitting that Tom, Lori, and Kelly were at his side as he passed peacefully, confident in their love for him and God’s love for him.
Hal’s grandchildren adored him. Alex and Michael Henricus and Tony Bolen and his fiancé Cydni Meyers were well loved by their grandfather and spent many hours enjoying his company. Their devotion is the result of Hal’s impeccable life of love, service, and character.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Hal’s memory to the Hal and Ruthie Scholarship Fund, 623 S. University Blvd., Nampa, ID 83686 or gifts can be made via the NNU website www.nnu.edu/give
