Helen R. Sanders, 91, passed away February 14, 2016 after a short illness at Kindred Care Center in Caldwell, Idaho. Helen was born on August 23, 1924 to Albert and Etta Shaffer in Booth, Arkansas. She grew up in a blended family with two brothers Everett and Bill; two sisters June and lily. Growing up on the farm she learned to work hard and 'to make do with what you had'. She learned how to quilt from her mother Etta and made beautiful quilts for her family. She enjoyed sewing and her skill was evident in the dresses she made. She met Glen Sanders at church when he was home on furlough during WW II and married in January 1944. They had two children, a daughter, Glenda Ruth and a son Winton. In 1944 they moved from Arkansas to California. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1979. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and daughter Glenda Ruth. She is survived by her son Winton Sanders, daughter-in-law Melissa and grandson Challis of Boise, Idaho and her dear friend Morgie Olvera of Hanford, Calif. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Lodi, California. The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care provided.
