Howard Belyeu Obituary Howard L. Belyeu, 83, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022. In lieu of funeral services, a get together will be held between 12 - 2pm Thursday, December 1 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Howard loved a good story, and this will be a great way to reminisce with friends and family, so please come when you are able. A quick graveside service will follow at 2:30pm at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa. Howard was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Alton E. "Pete" and Audrey (Shamblin) Belyeu on September 11, 1939. He grew up in the Phoenix area and attended Phoenix Union High School, graduating in 1957. After high school, Howard traveled the country to various rodeos to ride bulls with his older brother Ray and was a gold card carrying PRCA member. He met his future wife Susan (or Susie, as he affectionately called her) while in town for the Snake River Stampede, when she was waiting tables at the Town Talk Cafe. They were married July 18, 1966 on the Monday before the Snake River Stampede and made their home in Nampa. In those early years, Howard made his living as a salesman, selling turquoise jewelry, cowboy hats and other miscellaneous western items. He still traveled around to ride bulls in various rodeos, and Susan enjoyed going on these trips with him. Howard eventually got a job at Idaho Crop Improvement in 1976 inspecting fields, and even after retiring, came back in the summers as a contractor to help out during the busy season. In his spare time, he and his good friend Albert VanDorn started a horse hauling business called Blue Streak Ranch and he also made bull ropes for all the young cowboys. He was also quite the bowler and was a well known regular out at Centennial Golf Course in Nampa. In his retirement, Howard enjoyed golfing and playing cards out at the golf course with his friends. Howard is survived by his daughters Sherri (Scott) McIlhargey and Jennifer Brayko; his grandchildren Ashley Leon, Levi McIlhargey and Jacob & Connor Brayko; his great granddaughters Phoebe & Ariana Leon; and his sisters Julie & Linda Belyeu. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Susan, his parents Pete & Audrey Belyeu and his brothers Ray & John Belyeu.
