Irene Schmidt went home to her lord and into the arms of her husband and sons on June 12, 2013 at the age of 101. Irene Elnora Schmidt was born March 6, 1912 in Elm Creek, Nebraska to John and Suzi Thinnes where she grew up on the family farm with four brothers and two sisters. She married the love of her life Harold Schmidt on July 21, 1933. Harold and Irene had two sons and in 1942 they moved the family to Nampa Idaho. Irene worked at the Dewey Palace Hotel and at J.R. Simplot. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her guys and in later years, knitting, crocheting, quilting and collecting dolls. She was a devote member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Schmidt and her two beloved sons, Kenneth and Charles Schmidt, all four of her brothers and one of her sisters. Irene leaves behind five grandchildren, Kathy Smith (Richard), Michael Schmidt (Terry), Teresa Robinson (Ron), Dewayne Schmidt (Lisa), and Shellie Schmidt, one sister, Florence Munn along with numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A viewing and visitation will be held Monday June 17, 2013 from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. with Recitation of the Rosary to follow at 6:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Nampa. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens in Caldwell.
