James Allen “Jim” Lake, 88, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at Ashley Manor, surrounded by family after several years living with dementia.
Jim was born in Dallas, Texas, on December 7, 1937, the only child of Allen Lake and Edith Lake. He attended Highland High School before continuing his education at Texas Tech University and Southern Methodist University, where he was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
On August 29, 1957, Jim married the love of his life, Jewel Ann Ross, in Dallas, Texas. Sweethearts since the age of eight, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and companionship, including many rounds of golf together. Jewel passed away at the age of 70, and Jim spent many years carrying her memory with him. Today, there is comfort in knowing they are reunited.
Jim was a passionate sports fan who faithfully followed Boise State University football and the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, he had a deep and lasting love for the game of golf, which brought him joy, friendships, and a sense of peace throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, Jenifer Smith and her husband Al, and Jeff Lake and his wife Namanny; grandchildren Devin Rothwell and his partner Caitlin, Kylie Keys and her partner Tony, and Jaime Smith; and great-grandchildren Zena, Rya, Melody, and Lukas.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Ann Lake, and his parents, Allen Lake and Edith Lake.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Nampa Funeral Home, 415 12th Avenue South, Nampa, Idaho.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ashley Manor for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jim’s memory are encouraged to enjoy a round of golf, cheer on your favorite team, or share a story that keeps his spirit alive.
