Obituary

James Maine Obituary James Clarence Maine was born December 3, 1938, to Omar Leroy Maine and Eva Mae Rood near Adrian, Oregon. Jim finished his earthly journey and went on to meet Jesus, reuniting with family and friends in heaven on December 26, 2024. His family moved to a farm in Parma area at age of 3, learning the lesson of hard work at an early age. He developed a love for all things green, growing abundance of food for his family and friends, as well as the most beautiful of wildflowers. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Jim is described by his family and friends as a gentle, brave, caring, honorable, silly, funny, faithful, determined and loving man. Jim demonstrated unending love for his family, reveling in his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many "adopted" kids along the way. He was always playing with the kids, always with kind and encouraging word, being silly and laughing at a good joke. In 1961, Jim enlisted in the Navy as an Aviation Ordinanceman and was stationed in Ream Field in Imperial Beach, California after A School. He attended church at the Chula Vista Church of the Nazarene. He joined the young adults' choir and met the lady who would become his wife. Following choir practice one evening, they all piled into cars to go to Dairy Queen. Jim and Deanie met in the back seat of that car and with five total people; they sat close and have been close for the last 61 years. They were married February 14, 1964, at Chula Vista Church of the Nazarene. They began a beautiful family, first Steven James Maine and then Sherry Ann Maine. Jim and Deanie built their family on faith and were active in the ministries of the church both at home and abroad. Jim had a passion for teaching young people about Christ, from nursery through high school. Driving the church bus to leading trustees, Jim dedicated his life in service to the Lord. Following his service in the Navy, Jim worked 24 years for Naval Air Rework Facility North Island, San Diego, California. He was a jet engine mechanic and industrial engineer. Retiring from his main career, Jim and Deanie did a 9-month work and witness at the Twin Wells Indian School. After, he then began working at Northwest Nazarene University as a custodian, providing income while being able to be active in ministry and travel to visit friends and family. Jim is survived by his loving wife Deanie Maine, daughter Sherry Maine, grandson, Keyth and his spouse Katie Maine, granddaughters, Tiffany Maine, Jessica and her spouse Jason Wendland, Ashley Maine, great grandchildren, Peter and David Maine, Noah and Henry Fischer, Alexander and Nathanael Wendland, his brothers, Emmett, and spouse Jewell Maine, Richard and spouse Sandra Maine, Sister Anita and spouse Ed Cooper. Along with immediate family, Jim had countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will dearly miss him. Those that went before Jim, father Omar Leroy Maine and Mother Eva Mae Rood, son Steven James Maine, sister Alma Morrett, brothers Harold, Bill, Victor, Harry, Allan, Alfred, Bob, and David Maine.
