Obituary

Janet Lee Bowen Fowler, 70, of Nampa, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at a Boise hospital. Janet was born on August 30, 1942 in Perryville, Maryland to James Lowell and Helen Webb Bowen. She was raised and educated in Maryland and from an early marriage raised two children, Emmett and Linda. In January of 1970 she met Larry Fowler in the enlisted club at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. They were married on May 30, 1970. Her son Emmett was 8 years old and Linda was 7 and one year later in 1971 Janet and Larry had their daughter, Heather. In 1972 they moved to Bethesda, MD where Janet earned her High School diploma that eluded her when she was younger. She then began to work as a civil servant for the military in Non-appropriated funds. She also worked for eleven years for General Services Administration where she became an accountant. She was very proud of what she accomplished where she achieved civilian equivalent of military officer rank prior to her retirement in 2004. She is survived by her husband, Ret. Msgt Larry A. Fowler of Nampa; her children, Emmett, Jr. and Michelle Vickers of Rockport, TX, Linda and Ken Smith of Watauga, TX, Heather and David Joseph of Nampa, ID; her grandchildren, Dustin and Shuwei Vickers, Mark Naue, Destanie Vickers, Samantha Vickers, Jamie Joseph, Robin Joseph, Daniel Joseph; great grandchildren, Drake Vickers and Emma Vickers; three sisters and one brother in Virginia; five nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by her father James Lowell Bowen; mother Helen Hill; and aunt Lola Kilby.
