Jerry Rose Obituary Jerry Alan Rose peacefully passed away surrounded by family and his cherished cat Rocky on the morning of January 12, 2024, at the age of 79 in Marsing, Idaho. Born on September 28, 1944, in Ware, Massachusetts, to Malcolm and Dorothy Rose, Jerry led a life filled with love and laughter. Jerry was a kind man who adored helping people. His passion for teaching was evident, always eager to share new experiences with family and friends, whether it was showing off the rocks he found rockhounding in the Owyhee desert or teaching the grandkids how to drive. His joy brought smiles and laughter to those around him. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, picking berries, and building forts in the woods with his sisters and friends. He and his sisters spent countless hours at the lake, swimming and skating throughout the year. In 1964, Jerry joined the military, serving in multiple branches until retiring in 2004. During the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, he taught as a substitute teacher for all grade levels, with a specific fondness for earth science. He offered love and special attention to students facing abnormal circumstances. Jerrys memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 42 years, Rosina Rose, their child Jacob Rose, and his "bonus" children Tina (Doug) Swisher, Patty (Doug) Stanbrough, Mike (Aundrea) Bailey, and Thomas (Jennifer) Bailey. He is also survived by his two sisters, Judy Rose and Jean (Colin) Porchetta. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of love, remembered by 11 grandkids, 12 great- grandkids, eight great-great-grandkids, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Malcolm Rose and Dorothy Rose, as well as his stepmother, Rosie Rose, who will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them. Jerrys dedicated service to his country is worth noting. He proudly served in the Marines from 1964 to 1970, during that time serving in 3 tours in Vietnam, and continued in the Army National Guard from 1982 to 2004, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He was very devoted to the military, training over 40,000 soldiers and earning numerous awards during his service. In his leisure time, Jerry enjoyed fishing, rockhounding, and spending time with his family. He loved taking family and friends with him wherever he went, whether on a trip into the desert or for dinner at The Bowling Alley. A Celebration of Life for Jerry A. Rose will be held on Thursday, February 1, starting at 10 am at The Owyhee County Community Center, located at 432 W Nevada Ave, Homedale, ID 83628, with a light lunch to follow. This gathering allows friends and family to come together to honor and remember the man who was loved so greatly. A Graveside Military Service will follow at The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, located at 10100 North Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho 84714, starting at 1 pm.
