Obituary

JoAnn Pywell Obituary JoAnn Morf Pywell, 85 of Nampa, passed away on October 28, 2024. JoAnn was born the first of twins, JoAnn and Janette to John & Hazel Morf of Nampa. Idaho on March 24, 1939. The twins joined an older brother Jim. Some years later, younger brother Bob joined the Morf family. The family moved several times when the girls were infants, finally settling on the Morf family farm in the Lone Tree Community on Ustick road where the girls would grow up. Joann attended Lone Tree elementary school through the 8th grade. She then went to Central School for the 9th grade. JoAnn was in the first sophomore class to attend the new Nampa High School on 12th Avenue, graduating in 1958. While growing up the girls joined other neighborhood girls working in the fields hoeing and topping corn, while in high school JoAnn was a Job's Daughter serving as Honored Queen. After high school JoAnn worked at Penny Wise Drug Store. It was where she met Marlen Pywell. They married November 15, 1959. Marlen and Joann started farming in 1962. JoAnn joined the Bennett Communities Ladies Club. She chaired the concession sales for several large farm auctions. Sons David & Danny were born to this union. As the boys grew up, she poured herself into their activities. She and Marlen joined Carol and Charlie Pintler as co-leaders of the Dry Lake Livestock 4-H club. JoAnn became the Swine Superintendent for the Canyon County Fair. The highlight of this era was Danny exhibiting the Grand Champion Market Hog at the Canyon County Fair that was bred and raised on the Pywell Farm. JoAnn was always a competitive person. She bowled for a few years before turning her attention to golf. She became quite persistent at playing golf serving as president of the centennial Ladies Association for two years, JoAnn was able to score two holes in one during her golfing career. She convinced Marlen to join her on the links where they played in many states over the years. It was with great sadness when her health limited her playing time. It was all Marlen could handle when he had to put her in the Family Life Memory Care home in 2022. Marlen would like to thank the staff of Family Life Memory Care Home for the wonderful care they extended to JoAnn through some very trying times. Also, Marlen would like to thank Carol Pintler for taking JoAnn under her wing at Pintler Cellars Winery, helping JoAnn get her mind off losing her son, Danny. And finally, a huge thank you to Jackie Doherty and Patty Ennor Morf for their kindness and help down through the years. JoAnn is survived by her husband Marlen Pywell, son, David (Nancy)Pywell.
