Obituary

John Russell Mitchell, 53, died Friday, November 26, at his home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He quietly slipped from the grasp of those who love him and met face to face with his Father, Savior and Comforter.

A viewing will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m.on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel and Graveside Services at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.

Johns brother, Reverend Karl Mitchell of Salt Lake Central Church of the Nazarene will officiate. John was born February 24, 1957 in Nampa, Idaho to Alva R. and Elizabeth Kunkel Mitchell. Johns family moved to Fallon, Nevada where he was raised. John loved participating in sports; he attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and was active in the Nazarene Youth Group in Fallon. John attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. John moved back to Fallon and worked in law enforcement for several years. John continued his education and became a Certified Pedorthist in1994. John purchased Lloyds Boot Repair in Nampa in 1995 and worked with the Veterans Hospital in Boise. He loved his work and was always at his best teaching and learning from those he helped. During Johns illness many people provided him with medical care, but they provided his family with friendship and advice and we will never forget their care to us who survive John. Those are his family: his wife, Dianne; his daughter, Aimee and her sons Tyler, Kain and Kyle of Fallon, Nevada; his son, Matt and his family Falon and Taren of Boise; his son, Mark of Nampa; and his daughter Dana and her husband Matt of Liberty Lake, Washington; Johns mother, Elizabeth; his brother, Karl, of Salt Lake City, Utah; his brother, Robert and Molly and their children, Roxanne, Samuel, and Sydney (and her husband Mike) all of Eugene, Oregon and Janna of Idaho Falls; and his sister, Nancy and her family John, Maris and AJ of Caldwell. John was preceded in death by his father, Alva, and his sister, Roni Lu.
