John Patrick Swartz , 71 years of age, passed away peacefully September 30, 2025 with Theone, his loving wife of 17 years by his side.

John was born March 17, 1954 in Cleveland,Ohio. He is the son of Herbert Walter Swartz and Rita Anne Fievet Swartz.

John joined the United States Navy in 1971 after high school. The Navy became his new love for the next 21 years. In the years following his service, he did many other jobs, including attending technical school for electronic repair, working at a homeless shelter, a halfway house for the mentally impaired, and was a long haul truck driver.

For the last 17 years of his life, John enjoyed the quiet farm life, flying his drones and tinkering with his old tractors. In the past 2 years of life, he enjoyed fellowshipping with his church family and spoiling his nieces and nephews. John was exceptionally proud of his 40 plus years of sobriety and would often carry his sobriety medallion around with him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert Walter(Buster) Swartz and Rita Anne Fievet, 2 brothers; Herbert and Dale Swartz, and 2 sisters; Rita Ann Ferguson and Mary Anne Mitruik.

He is survived by his wife Theone Swartz, his sisters Diane Kaper, Jacqueline Walden and Janet Anne Swartz, his brothers Thomas Swartz, David Swartz and Larry Mitruik, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial is scheduled for October 19, 2025 at the Wilder Idaho Church of God at 10:45 a.m with a potluck to follow. Military honors and burial will commence at a later date.
