Joseph Anthony Lamitina, 75, of Nampa, Idaho passed away at home on January 17, 2013. He was born on September 22, 1937 in Warsaw, New York. He married the love of his life, Beverly Luann Lundahl, on February 25, 1961. He is survived by his three children Scott Lamitina (Carmen), Sherrie Lamitina and Laura Ashley (John) and five grandchildren Journey Green, Eric & Brandon Lamitina, Ana Ashley and his namesake Joey Ashley, his brother Bob Lamitina (Laura) and his sister Mary Doxtater (Bob). He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Gladys Lamitina and his brother Bill Lamitina. He served in the US Army for three years and was a proud member of the 82nd airborne division. He worked a variety of careers throughout his life. He said he did not know how someone could do the same thing for an entire lifetime. He moved from Texas to Idaho in 2003 to pursue his love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to explore nature. He spent summers in Cascade, ID to enjoy the beautiful mountains and lakes. He loved going on ATV adventures, riding his Harley and spending leisurely days on the lake fishing or just relaxing and grilling outdoors. He loved to talk and laugh with everyone he met. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and loyal friend. Viewing will be held at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the entire staff of Treasure Valley Hospice in Nampa as well as the staff at the VA Medical Center in Boise with a very special thank you to The Blue Team for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers, Joe asked that donations be made to the VA Medical Center in Boise Idaho.
