Joyce was born on April 5, 1924 in Potlatch, Idaho. She was the fifth of eight children born to Herbert and Wilma Kincaid. When she was eight years old, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho for the Nazarene schools there. She graduated from the Nazarene Grammar School in 1938 and from Nampa Senior High School in 1942. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in 1946 with a degree in education and art. She began her teaching career in North Powder, Oregon and taught in elementary schools in South Dakota and Nampa, Idaho. She finished her teaching career at Centennial Elementary School in Nampa after 27 years of teaching. Joyce married Harold Humphrey of Carthage, South Dakota on Christmas Day 1949. They became the proud parents of five boys while living on their farm east of Carthage, South Dakota. Harold died in May 1999 after 49 years of marriage and Joyce married Harold Yancey in 2000 and they were married eleven years. After Harold died Joyce married John Harris in September 2011. They were married seven and a half years when John died in April of 2019. Joyce found her life enriched by each of her marriages. Joyce was a devoted Christian who raised her children in the Christian faith. She encouraged her family to follow and serve the Lord. Her regular practice each morning was to read through a selection of devotional writings. In addition to being a teacher she enjoyed art and took up painting pictures again after retirement and with the encouragement of her family. She did a lot of paintings, which her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren now enjoy. Joyce loved to sing and sang in various choirs, including the Grace Notes choir at Nampa College Church. She would often start singing one of her favorite hymns, often in the morning and before getting up for the day. She loved to collect rocks and would often pick one up on a drive or a walk. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles and she and her husbands put together many of them and had several framed so they could be hung on the wall. Joyce is survived by four sons, Rich of Sun City, AZ, and his three sons, Brandon, Erik, and Kyle; Darrell of Nampa and his wife Carol, and their three children, Darin, Carlyn, and Devon; Gary of Sublimity, OR and his wife Joanne, and their two children, Emily and Ben; and Ron of Nampa and his wife Ruthann; a sister Olive Stone of Castaic, CA; ten great grand children; and nieces, and nephews.
