J. R. (Jimmie) Scott sailed into Heaven Friday, July 31, 2015 and now resides with his Heavenly Father.
Jimmie was born October 5, 1955, in Twin Falls, Idaho. The family relocated to Caldwell, where he attended and graduated from school. After a short military experience, he entered the pipe trades, where he was to have a long and successful career as a master pipefitter and member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 296. He taught and mentored many in the trade and leaves a mark of perfection and skill with the many whom he tutored along the way. J.R. was the consummate mountain man, spending many years guiding hunters in the back country, and doing his own hunting, fishing, and tracking. He could navigate through mountain ranges like most of us navigate our back yards. More importantly, J.R. was a loving and generous man. He took great care with his mother, making time for weekly coffee visits. He showered those he loved with gifts and attention. He was the first to come to the rescue when anyone needed help. He was a solid and trusted friend, asking nothing in return. J.R. married his hearts partner Dian in 2003, and together they danced through life sharing many special adventures. One of those was their joint venture, Mended Hearts Horse Training, where he applied his 30 years of horse training experience to help people and their horses. He was magic with horses, and people would bring their lawn chairs, parents, children, and coolers to sit and watch, photograph, and video tape him as he worked his magic with a troubled horse. Children and animals loved to be in his presence. Most will remember J.R.s playful sense of humor and how he made them laugh. He loved hummingbirds, music and dancing, and playing his harmonica.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Smith, sister Winona, and daughter, Cody Scott.
He is survived by his wife Dian; his mother, Goldie Smith; brothers, Aubrey Smith and family and Milton Smith and family; sisters, Danette Noble and family and Diana Thomas and family; sons, Cole and Troy Scott and Ryan and Kyle Batt; daughter, Jodi Edwards and family; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
A celebration of J.R. will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2 pm at Luby Park in Caldwell. You are invited to bring pictures and stories as we share and honor his life. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
