Keith Vernon Copenhaver, 73, of Nampa passed early Wednesday morning, February 13, 2013, at home with family. He was born to the late Glen and Hazel Copenhaver, Feb. 20, 1939, in Nampa, ID. Keith married Rita Cox on September 24, 1957. As the story goes Rita picked Keith out in the first grade and together they shared a wonderful marriage of 55 years.

Keith started farming at the age of two when his father would fasten down an apple box to the cultivator and work the fields. Later on in life he started his own trucking and heavy equipment construction business, which he has passed down to his son Kevin.

Keith was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend. His legacy is built of kindness, a sense of humor, a wonderful zest for life, and he has left a lasting impression on many. Keith fought a courageous battle against cancer for several years, and never once lost his sense of humor. He truly believed that "Every day is good, some are just better than others."

Keith is survived by his wife, Rita Copenhaver; his son, Kevin Copenhaver, of Nampa; daughter and son-in-law, Keri and Rick Bucknell, of Nampa; his daughter, Karen Kirby, of Nampa; son-in-law, Gregg Kirby, of Meridian; his grandkids, Crystal Carter, Kristopher Copenhaver, Krista Kirby, and Amber Bucknell; his great-grandkids, Kai and Kenzie Copenhaver, and Addy Kirby; several nieces and nephews, and numerous "adopted" children (you know who you are).

Keith was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Hazel, his brother Gerald, and his sister Ardevee Fulcher.

Keith always loved a good story. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you share with them, in writing, your favorite memory, special story, or photo of Keith for their album. There will also be a time at the service for sharing.

"Celebration for Life" services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19th, at Nampa Funeral Home, 415 12th Ave. South, Nampa.
