Kenneth Lester Boughton, 87, of Caldwell, died in his sleep on Monday, February 2, 2015. He was born July 10, 1927 in Middletown, Ohio to Roy and Ruth Boughton. Kenneth, a World War II veteran, served in the Army in Germany, near the end of the war. Kenneth married Lucy Marie Gatliff in October 1952. They left Ohio in the early sixties and started over in sunny California. Kenneth and Lucy raised their family and cared for dozens of foster children in California. Kenneth had his own machinist business as well as careers in insurance and real estate. In 2005, Kenneth and Lucy moved to Caldwell, Idaho to be closer to Lucys sister Ruth Gatliff Given, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Given. In September 2008, Kenneth lost Lucy, after nearly 56 years of marriage. Kenneth was known in the community for his kindness, generosity and gentle spirit. He would drop everything to help someone in need. He was a Biblical scholar, self-taught in Greek, Hebrew and Latin. He loved learning and was a man of many talents. There was nothing he could not construct. He won multiple awards for his art work drawing, painting, stained glass lamps, and most recently his work with ceramics. At 83 year of age Kenneth took up a life-long love learning to fly. A viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 PM, with an in-chapel service at 3:00 PM at Nampa Funeral Home. A short grave-side service will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Rescue Mission in Nampa, Idaho or to a favorite charity of your choice.
