Kristine Earnest Obituary Kristine LaVonne Earnest born November 19, 1964, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 21, 2025, at the age of 60. Kristy was a devout believer in Jesus and His saving grace, and lived each day as a child of God, trusting God for her every need. She is now alive and completely healed in the presence of her Savior. She grew up attending First Mennonite Church of Nampa where she was baptized, was an active part of the youth group (playing lots of Nerts), played softball on the church team, and shared her gifts in many ways. She was also a part of Crossroads Community Church of Nampa and Deer Flat Church in Caldwell where she had recently joined the bell choir. Kristy adored her two older brothers, David and Scott and was delighted to have a baby sister, Jana, come to love. Her parents say she was a child that did not cause any problems, but Jana can remember a few scrapes. One being, when on a hot summer day, they jumped into the water in the ditch in their clothes only to be met with great reprimands from Mom. Kristy attended Midway and East Canyon Elementary Schools and Vallivue Jr. and Sr. High Schools. While there she played the flute in the band and also was a part of the flag corps for the marching band. She began attending Nampa Christian High School her sophomore year and graduating in 1983. Here she connected with new friends through classes, choir, and going to sporting events. After high school she attended Hesston College in Kansas where she expanded her gift in art and also sang in the choral group, graduating in 1986. This was a wonderful time in her life. After college Kristy lived for a short period of time in Iowa with her college roommate, riding bike to work at Wendys. However, with the need to find a different job and to be around her family, Kristy moved back to Nampa and began working in the records department at Mercy Medical Center where she made life-long friendships. After four or so years in this position she transferred to St. Lukes Cancer Institute, previously known as MSTI. In 2006 She was nominated for and received Employee of the Quarter. Her nominee stated, "Kristy is the back bone of Medical Records, and she is an awesome role model." She worked for St. Lukes for 33 years. Kristy rented various places to live in Nampa by herself or with housemates. She purchased her own home in Caldwell in 2004 where she and her cats took up residence. Pooky, Opie, Toby, Tooly, Pepper, Sissy, Jasper and Poppy were all of her faithful companions through the years. For fun Kristy loved playing games, scrapbooking, crafting, crocheting, and going camping in her tear-drop trailer whenever she could. She preferred a book to talking a lot, and enjoyed watching movies and having girls nights and scrapbooking nights that went late into the night. She very rarely missed any of her nieces and nephews music concerts or sporting events. And while they were in college she traveled to Nampa, Kansas and Virginia to get in on whatever she could. They always had fun spending time with her, teasing her about all of the funny things she would say. Memories from her nieces and nephews: She always had the best movie stash and we would "rent" movies from her. She also got Netflix in the early days where theyd mail you the DVDs and we thought that was super fancy! I liked doing crafts with her, like scrapbooking. We would go over to her house and have a day doing that together. We always wanted to see her cats but they were ALWAYS hiding! When we were kids I thought she was the coolest babysitter. She would grab our arms and spin around in circles really fast and it was kinda scary but super fun. The way she said cereal "sir-eal"! Her fully committed efforts to play Spikeball and pickleball even if it didnt comenaturally. She had a super old microwave that had a dial which we thought was funny as kids. Dont ask me why I remember that. She was so fun to play games with. The most recent one we got into was Ransom Notes and we all got to laughing so hard! Her laugh was the best. Sadie and I used to have sleepovers at Kristys house all the time and she would let us watch two movies in one night. One time she let us sleep in her little camper in her garage, and we thought it was the best thing ever! There were also sleepovers that we would get as birthday gifts! We might go to a movie and then go to her house for snacks and games or, of course, her Wii. We loved the Wii. Once at a sleepover Kristy planned out a series of Wii games to do as a competition (I think I had invited Caleb to come to my sleepover that year). Going over to her house to play the Wii Fit obstacle course or the Wii mystery game was a favorite. The gaming often turned into a fun little competition and would result in lots and lots of laughter. I was always excited for birthdays as a kid because I knew that Kristy was going to take me out to eat, and the restaurant was my choice. I remember one time in particular there was a new McDonalds that had been built and so thats where I chose to go because of the cool "play place". But the choice confused Kristy a little because out of all the places to go I chose McDonalds! One family get together for someones birthday Kristy played a prank on us all and brought out a cake disguised as a kitty litter box with little poops made out of tootsie rolls. She would instigate many of the girls nights that we had where we watched movies and ate food. Most memorably for me was watching North and South. Wed keep rewinding one part over and over again"If you know, you know!" Getting to be Kristys little elves. It was always lots of fun getting to try and sneak around to deliver Christmas presents to Kristys house without her noticing. One of the biggest things I remember, even when I was really little, is that Kristy was always there to support and cheer us on. At sports games, at music recitals and concerts (even when they maybe werent that good), and of course always at family events! I can distinctly remember Kristy watching tennis matches bundled up in coats and blankets with an umbrella - a true fan! Kristy coming to lots of school events, sports games, and camping trips. She always loved to come and support and go on little travel excursions with our family. It always meant so much to me that she wanted to come watch whatever I was doing, and it was always so much fun to have her along with us on trips. One time when the whole family went camping, Kristy heard about using warm rocks to heat up your bed before getting in, so she took some rocks out of the fire pit to warm up her sleeping bag. Not only did they warm it up but the rocks also burnt a hole in her sleeping bag! We all laughed about it the next morning when she told us. She always brought cookies in her blue container with the flappy front when we went camping together. Once time, pre-teardrop camper, I remember we were at Black Rock and in the middle of the night it started thundering and pouring rain and she had to come into our camper for a little while because her moat was overflowing and her tent was getting wet. Camping was also the first place I remember seeing Kristy wearing glasses (in the morning before she had a chance to put contacts in) and as a little kid I thought that was funny. There are so many places that Kristy will be missed. She was so involved with all of our lives and cared deeply about each of us. I know that there will continue to be places, probably for a long time, where it feels like shes missing and while thats hard to think about, its also very fortunate because of what it means - she was excited to be involved with our lives and cared so much about our successes. I think its a blessing to have people like that in your memory. Kristy did care deeply for her family and most Sundays you could find her at Mom and Dads house playing pinochle with them and Dave and watching sports on TV. Or she was taking Mom and Dad lattes from McDonalds on her lunch breaks. She babysat for all of us, went on trips with us, and loved us all with her whole heart. We are so sad to have another empty spot in our lives, but have peace and take comfort in knowing that Kristy is with her best friend, Jesus, where she, too, is filled with peace and her spirit is made whole. Kristy is survived by her parents, Philip and Alice Earnest of Nampa, ID, siblings Scott (Beth) Earnest of Nampa and Jana (Mike) Oesch of Caldwell, nieces and nephews Lorren Oesch of Nampa, Curtis (Sarah) Oesch Miller of Beaverton, OR, Sage (Ethan) Gerdes of Vancouver, WA, Caleb Oesch of Harrisonburg, VA, Ellie Earnest of Nampa, Sadie Oesch of Caldwell, and many loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
