Lacy Book went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Lacy was born in Berryville, Arkansas February 25, 1918, the son of John and Tennie Book. In 1920 the family moved to Idaho to live and farm in the Kuna area. Lacy was educated in the Kuna school system after which he continued to farm within the immediate area. In 1944 during World War II Lacy enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completion of basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington, Lacy was assigned to the Army Corp of Engineers where he served our country in the Philippines under the direction of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. At the conclusion of the war he returned to Idaho and married Alta June Webster who remained the love of his life for the next 65 years. They began their married life in Nampa where Lacy started working for Bailey and Mooney Construction as an apprentice carpenter. When his apprenticeship was concluded, Lacy then served as a journeyman carpenter and eventually as Construction Superintendent for L.H. Krieger Construction and August Michaelis Construction. In 1966 he entered into partnership with Walter Opp and his brother-in-law Leonard Fletcher creating Opp Construction, a successful commercial contracting corporation, which he remained a part of until his retirement in1983. Lacys passion for commercial construction is demonstrated throughout the Boise Valley where he directed and facilitated the construction of many large structures, the last being First Church of the Nazarene in Nampa.

As much as Lacy enjoyed his lifes work, construction, it was of low importance when compared to what he valued most. The personal relationships that he shared with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family were always his ultimate priority. Lacy was very caring, always concerned about the well being of others, offering assistance and support to those in need, never desirous of personal recognition.

His father John, mother Tennie, brothers Ebert and Eldon and sisters Rita Fletcher, Thelma Neuenschwander and Lela Barber preceded Lacy in death.

He is survived by his wife Alta June, his children Eldon Book (Kay) Boise, Idaho, Glenda Richards (Steve) Salt Lake City, Utah, Keith Book (Konnie) Boise, Idaho and grandchildren John Book and Erin Richards. Though Lacy will be dearly missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that he has achieved his lifelong goal, which is to reside with his Lord.

The family invites friends to spend time with them at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel on Monday evening July 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to celebrate and share memories of Lacys life. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Kohlerlawn Cemetery located in Nampa. The family welcomes all those who wish to attend.
