Lambert Henry Schroeder "Hank", 86, of Nampa, Idaho, died peacefully at his home on October 20, 2013.
Lambert was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Arthur and Katharina (Pepper) Schroeder on January 23, 1927. Lambert married Bernice Marjorie Schroeder on December 21, 1947 in Thorndale, Texas. They celebrated over 65 years of marriage and both eventually retired in Nampa, Idaho, to be closer to their son.
Lambert is survived by his sister Ruth Kasiska of Kanopolis, Kansas; brother Ken Schroeder and his wife Gladys of Austin, Texas; step-sister Jeanette Westerhaus and her husband Bob of Wichita, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law Phil and Margie Schroeder of Kuna, Idaho; three grandchildren Terrah McCracken and her husband Dean of Castle Rock, Colorado, Joshua Schroeder of Boise, Idaho, Tiffany Schroeder of Kuna, Idaho; and great grandson Kade McCracken of Castle Rock, Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernice, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Lambert attended elementary and high school in Kansas where his father held pastorates. He served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and after being discharged, he attended the University of Texas where he received both B.S. and M.S. degrees in education. He taught school for 10 years in Texas and was serving as principal of the public schools in Taylor, TX prior to entering the seminary in Springfield, IL in 1960. After graduating from the seminary, he received his first call to serve as Pastor in Corpus Christi, TX.
In 1969, Lambert combined both of his chosen professions when he became Dean of Students at St. Johns Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas. After leaving St. Johns, Lambert served as Pastor in Iowa and then Southern California until he retired and moved to Idaho in 1989 where his son and family still reside. Lambert served many vacancies throughout his retirement years and received great joy in teaching his Wednesday bible study classes at Zions Lutheran Church up to the time of his death.
Funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on October 25, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ross Shaver officiating located at 404 Nectarine Street, Nampa, Idaho. Viewing will be held prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 15862 Indiana Avenue, Caldwell, Idaho.
