Larry Dean Mayden, 77, of Nampa, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in a Nampa hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Larry was born on December 2, 1933 in Randolph, Nebraska to Chet and Dorothy Mayden. At the age of five he moved to Nampa with his mother and his loving stepfather, George Wiedenfeld whom Larry loved and respected all of his years. He was raised and educated in Nampa.
Larry was drafted into the U.S. Army and served six years both overseas in Germany and stateside. In 1963 Larry met his future wife, Marian Manselle, when he went to buy a new Pontiac at Honstead Motors and Marian was the secretary. He went away with both a new car and a new bride. They were married on April 7, 1967.
One of Larry and Marians greatest accomplishments in their married life is that they literally built their own home together with no previous building experience where they still live today.
Larry worked as a butcher for several years and for the City of Nampa wasted water department. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and loved to travel all over the country with Marian. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and helped countless people all over.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marian of Nampa; his mother, Dorothy Wiedenfeld of Nampa; a brother, Mervin (Mary) Wiedenfeld of Meridian and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and step father.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or flowers may be sent.
